James 1:5

Have you ever had one of those day where every decision just seems to go all wrong and you think to yourself I just want to go back to bed. And we continue our day walking in ignorance as if we know all the answers when in the back of our minds we realize that we don't have a clue. James 1:5 talks about this very issue. "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him." Many of us know this verse, oh we might not have known exactly were it was located but we've heard it since we were little kids, right? But, we don't ask do we? And the main question here today is why not? Why don't we ask for wisdom? I believe that the main reason is that we are afraid to admit that we don't know, and then have to deal with the backlash. But that is why the second half of the verse is there. "Who gives to all generously and without reproach." So you see all we have to do is ask and God will give wisdom without reproach. Believe it or not it is just that simple.

II Corinthians 4:5

At the Annual meeting the other night Steven Parker (the speaker) asked the question:

Why do we do it?

Meaning why do we give up our time to serve the way we do? Why do we miss other events to teach Sunday School, Preach three times a week, go to deacon's meetings, and do community events like Christmas Village?

Paul had the answer;

II Corinthians 4:5

5For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus' sake.

We don't do it for our sake, but we as bond-servants proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord!!! Bam! Now the question is are we proclaiming Jesus Christ as Lord? Are we taking the gospel to those who need it? Or are we just sitting back in our comfy pews surrounded by our comfy friends doing what we have always done? I encourage you to get out this week and invite one person to church, talk to one person about Christ, find someone that you don't know and make a new friend. We can do it because He asked us to, but we can also do it because He has given us the power to.

Psalm 94:19

A good friend sent this verse to me:

Psalm 94:19 NASB
When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul.

The Message renders it this way:
If God hadn't been there for me, I never would have made it. The minute I said, "I'm slipping, I'm falling," your love, God, took hold and held me fast. When I was upset and beside myself, you calmed me down and cheered me up.

Man, I know that there are days when my anxious thought well up inside of me, there are days where I can't find rest or sleep, there are most assuredly days when this first part is me to a "T," but notice what happens next. God's consolations delight our souls!!! Isn't that great!!! Unfortunately there is a problem with though, many of us do not seek God we just use Him like a handyman around our inner house. We only turn to Him when we need something, we only call on Him when something is broken and needs to be fixed. We don't lean on Him as we should, He wants to delight our souls. Man there sure are days most days that I need that consolation. Isn't God awesome!!!

Sorry

I'm am sorry that it has been so long since the last post things here at Trinity have been at a sprint lately. This week we need to pray for Clive and Lou Murray and Mary Alice McEachern and the Senior Adults from FBC as they head to Branson. Pray for:

1) A safe trip--both going and returing
2) That they would have a great time
3) That they would have some Jabez appointments
4) That the Glory of God would shine through them
